Moscow, Idaho

The news from Moscow yesterday (Sunday, May 20, 2007) about the sniper shooting was so horrible. I've been touched because I grew up in Moscow, the First Presbyterian Church was my home church and I was married there in August, 1986.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those living in Moscow who have been personally touched by this tragedy. I don't think I actually knew any of the specific individuals involved but in a town the size of Moscow, everyone is connected.
So many senseless tragedies have occurred. It raises to mind what we can do to be positive and loving to help improve our world. So tell someone you love them, hug and kiss them, smile and relish the relationships you have.

What a terrible start

to this day - First, my boy decided that it was time to have an upset stomach. So we didn't get much sleep last night. This is such a killer because I need my 8 hours minimum. I do so much better on 10. So he's home today.
Then, on the way to school, we were in a little fender bender. Well, to be more exact, it would be my bumper to the other guy's right passenger door. Now, my stomach hurts.
The funny (weird) bit to this is 12 years without an insurance claim and now two in two days. They are not going to like me if this keeps up. Of course, if this keeps up, I'll have to do something drastic like to move to a deserted island where there are no cars.

Ice Cream

I am laughing out loud. My boy just came and asked for ice cream. Now, that in and of itself is not funny. However, we ate dinner at Red Robin tonight and he was too full to finish. He just now came and said "Mom, I need ice cream. My tummy has this sense for ice cream and the only way I can get rid of it is to eat some ice cream." What made it even funnier is his whole expression. His hands were very dramatic and his face was oh so cute in his pleading. How could I say anything other than yes? It was conditional on him bringing me a toffee ice cream bar. He did. Yum.

More on Robin Beam

The classes were fantastic! I learned so much. I love pearlescent shimmer and Perfect Pearls are so easy to work with. Robin is a wonderful teacher, and it was great to be able to pick her brain and confirm some facts I have been teaching in my classes. We had a really good turn out, both on Friday and Saturday.

I need to list seven random facts/habits about myself.

1. My favorite color is shades of teal - in the summer, I like the bright turquoise end of the color and in the fall/winter the rich teals.
2. I require a mountain fix and when I don't get to the mountains, I get itchy, grumpy, and depressed. I try to stave this off by keeping pine cones everywhere. The pine cones remind me of the forest which grows on the mountainsides. I'm a Rocky Mountain Girl at heart.
3. My favorite day would be a misty, rainy, drizzly day spent reading Harry Potter or Nora Roberts in comfy clothes in front of a fire playing James Taylor in the background.
4. My favorite home cooked dinner is pork chops, milk gravy and rice.
5. I collect Anchor Hocking Forest Green glass.
6. My secret ambition - not so secret now - is to be an expert in my field, and be an in-demand public speaker.
7. I special order the gum I can't live without - original Dentyne.

Robin Beam of Ranger

It is going to be a great weekend! Robin Beam of Ranger is going to be at the store teaching four great classes Friday and Saturday. I'll be working the store but I am also going to be taking a couple of the classes. I have heard she is a fantastic teacher and I love that! I will be taking a Memory Glass and Perfect Pearls class. Although I have worked with the Perfect Pearls, I've never had a class on them so that should be enlightening. Look for project posts on Sunday.
