The one word that I'm focusing on in 2012 is "Joy". I want to rediscover that bigger than happiness, deeper than contentment feeling that is true joy. I plan on researching joy, looking into the Happiness Project, and spending some time with my "JOY" notebook - where I'm planning on recording what I've learned.
Bliss … as though you’d suddenly swallowed a bright piece of that late afternoon sun and it burned in your bosom, sending out a little shower of sparks into every particle —Katherine Mansfield
I remember being asked while I was in high school, "Why are you so happy all the time?" during a stint as a counselor at Camp Spalding. I remember that answer being that this joy was a result of my personal relationship with Jesus. Life has gotten in my way and I am determined to push some of that chaos aside, and find that deep joy again. I'm pretty sure my family and I will all benefit from a happier mom.
My inspiration to choose a word comes from Ali Edwards . She explains in her blog entry of January 4, 2007 about choosing a single word to focus on for the year. This really resonated with me and I decided to give it a go. I started with "one word" in 2008.
